Hottest Inhabitant Place

There are a lot of different kinds of travellers that you get to see in this world. While some of them just like to wander the world without a destination in mind, others like to plan their trips based on a certain number of factors. Apart from how beautiful the destination, the decision of whether to visit the place also depends on the weather of the place for a lot of people. And that is the reason why the concept of seasons is so popular in tourism.

However, there are a lot of places in the world where the concept of seasons simply don’t exist. Such is a remote spot on the Ethiopian desert, which is accessible only by camels. But do you know what makes it unique? It is said to be the hottest inhabited place in the world.

Why then travel to the place, you ask? Well, it is extremely beautiful. The landscape of Dallol, in the Danakil Depression, is so beautiful that it looks like the finely made painting on a master artist’s canvas.

The place is home to earthquakes, geysers, volcanoes, and salt canyons that together make it a really colourful place. One can’t help but admire the breathtaking beauty created here by a unique mix of these colours. It’s a place which will reinstate your fact in the saying that “God is an artist.”

There was a time when Dallol was an important place in this part of the world as it used to be a busy camp with workers mining for potash, sylvite, and salt. But then, the mine remains abandoned now, thanks to the rising temperatures of the place that has made it the hottest place on the planet.

It was in the 1960s that some of the American mining companies conducted geological surveys at the place that revealed a maximum temperature of 46 degrees on a regular basis. It soon became the place with the highest recorded average temperature in any inhabited place on earth. The only time in the year that this average temperature would dip down to below 37 degrees was in the months of January and February.

In spite of the brutal heat of the place, one just can’t ignore the striking beauty of the place.

The varied hues visible on the landscape of this place are brought about by the various kinds of elements available. The hot springs of this place are known for the bright colours they add, especially due to the chloride and hydroxide emissions collecting in the pools. The salt canyons, on the other hand, rise up to an altitude of 130 ft with varying pinkish hues.

Dallol is still famous for salt, and those who seek it are known to make a long and arduous trek just to get there. But then, the journey is so difficult that route is often referred to as “The Gateway to Hell”. Also, if one travels to the place by camel, even then it takes a day to reach the place.
