Tata & Burj Khalifa Connection
Many of us don’t know but Burj Khalifa was built in 2010 with Tata Steel’s ComFlor® 80 composite floor decking. Burj Khalifa has 163 levels and is 829.8 metres tall, making it the tallest buildings in the world & it was made possible using our country’s Tata Steel. Tata & Burj Khalifa has one more connection that you probably don’t know about. The Air Conditioning Service in the building was provided by Tata Voltas. Imagine providing AC to a whole city, Now you know what a mammoth task Tata Voltas was able to achieve.
The Burj Khalifa is designed by an American Company and developed into shape by the South Koreans. In total, 330,000m3 of concrete and 39,000 tonnes of steel rebar were used in constructing Burj Khalifa. The very top of the 828m spiral structure required a deck that was both high quality and which would be suitable for installation at such a height. The steel which if laid end to end would extend to over 25% of all the way around the planet Earth.
Tata Steel Pride of India
In 1943, the Howrah Bridge, the iron giant of West Bengal was also built using Tata Steel. The Howrah Bridge has recently celebrated its 75th anniversary. Tata has made such huge skyscrapers & complicated structures possible using their ingenuity and state of the art design. This is something all Indians can take pride in.
Recently, Tata Steel has constructed a 2600m long six-lane Kanaka Durga flyover in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, the longest in the AP. Tata Steel supplied close to 80% of the steel used in the project as well as 2,000 metric tonnes of Low Relaxation Pre-Stressed Concrete (LRPC) Strands and 10,000 metric tonnes of TMT (thermo-mechanically-treated bars). The strength of the steel provided by Tata Steel has proved to be a major game-changer in increasing the span between the pillars to 45 metres, which is nearly two times the generally accepted limit of 25m.
