Men Spend Seven Hours for Peace

You often hear people complain they don't get enough 'alone time' well, apparently, it isn't the case for men who are said to spend seven hours a year hiding in bathroom for peace and quiet.

Researchers polled 1,000 men and found 'nagging' partners, avoiding children, chore avoidance and the chance to look at their mobile phone undisturbed are the main reasons to hide.

Researchers who polled 1,000 men found they spend a total of seven hours a year in the bathroom - and not even to use it (selfish).

Along with achieving some quiet time, the third of British blokes who admitted to it said they also escape to the toilet when their other half is 'nagging' them, or even to avoid the kids.

Other key reasons included chore avoidance and the chance to look at their mobile phone undisturbed.

The research, that was commissioned by bathroom experts, Pebble Grey, found one in 10 visits to the bathroom are interrupted on average - that's 171 during the course of a typical year.

A spokesman said: "We all need a little bit of time to ourselves - to take stock or switch off completely.

"And the bathroom appears to be the go-to place for those moments - it's very much a sanctuary, somewhere we can cut ourselves off from the outside world, albeit just temporarily.

"As the results suggest, peace and quiet is sacred and clearly men take the opportunity to get this where they can - often in the bathroom."

In the research it found that disturbances are most-likely caused by the men's partners, with interruptions from the kids not far behind.

45 percent said getting any time to themselves is a struggle - and a quarter claimed their partner doesn't appreciate just how busy their life is.

25 percent of men went so far as to say if they couldn't get that escape to the bathroom from time to time they 'don't know how they'd cope'.

And, a little sadly, 23 percent describe their bathroom as their little refuge - their 'safe place'.

You know what ladies, I think it's time you went and claimed some peace and quiet for yourselves.
