Glass bottom skypool

The world’s first sky pool 115ft above the streets of London and will open next summer.

Three metres deep, 25 metres long and holding nearly 400 tons of water, it’s set to bridge two luxury blocks of flats - allowing users to swim between both buildings.

It is currently undergoing the final testing before the luxury pool can be shipped to the capital from Colorado.

Made entirely of 20cm thick glass, developers have said swimming in it “will make you feel like you’re floating on air”.

Situated on the tenth floor it will provide a prime view of the neighbouring billion-dollar US Embassy which is due to open in January.

The Embassy Gardens development in Nine Elms will include 2,000 apartments, starting at £600,000, and rising to £5 million for the penthouse suite.

Residents will have no shortage of cutting-edge facilities and events such as Friday night gigs, film clubs and pop-up food parties.

A Sky Deck - at the top of the two buildings - will also feature a spa, summer bar and Orangery where residents will be able to relax.

Developers Ecoworld Ballymore's CEO Sean Mulryan said: “It was an idea that really stood out and that we thought was quite special.

"We didn’t know if it was possible at the time and five years ago it wouldn’t have been.

“It’s only because of advances in technology that we’re able to do this. Swimming in it will make you feel like you’re floating in air.”
